2022 Topps Baseball Mega Box Break

Another retail find, this 2022 Topps Baseball Mega was one of many at the local Target store, further emphasizing that maybe the retail craze has died down. In any case, this was a good deal – 256 total cards at a reasonable price is hard to come by. And if you’re a set collector, picking up one of these megas will get you much closer to that completed set you so desire.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all you can guarantee with this box. No autos or relics are guaranteed, or even mentioned, on the box. This one is strictly for the card collectors. That doesn’t mean that you can find some gems in here.

Our luck came in the form of colored parallels and a short-print advanced stat variation. We were pretty lucky that our parallels are actually of two of the most popular ball players around in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Their value won’t make up for the cost of the box, of course, but these are some good looking cards of some of the current greats.

  • 16 Stars of MLB
  • 2 Stars of MLB Chrome
  • 4 ‘87 Topps
  • 2 Rainbow Foil
  • 1 Advanced Stat (#/300)
  • 1 Royal Blue
  • 1 Retail Blue
  • 1 2021’s Greatest Hits
  • 1 Welcome to the Show
  • 1 Generation Now
  • 1 Flashiest Feet
  • 1 Pick the Game Home Run Challenge

This was a fun break in the sense that you didn’t have to hold your breath from one pack to the next. If you were lucky to get a big hit, then so be it, but you weren’t wishing and hoping for it. Topps 2022 is a descent looking set and Topps always has a large set to collect. Series 2 is already out actually so the fun doesn’t stop here. If you just like to collect and open packs, you can’t go wrong with any of Topps’ flagship sets.
